The BMW X1 has a new entry-level version. BMW do Brasil has decided to discontinue the production of the sDrive18i version and replace it with the sDrive20i GP. This means that customers will now have much more power and also more equipment at their disposal.
The new BMW X1 sDrive 20i GP uses a 2.0 twin-turbo engine with 204 HP and 300 Nm of torque with a 7-speed automatic transmission. The old X1 sDrive18i was the only car in the range to use the 1.5 turbo engine with 156 HP and 240 Nm, also equipped with a 7-speed automatic transmission.
The price has been kept at R$318,950, but it is a “launch price”; therefore it is likely to go up. Furthermore, the new entry-level BMW X1 benefits from the BSI program at no additional cost for a period of three years or 40,000 km (whichever comes first). It is also worth mentioning that the old engine had three cylinders and the new one had four.
Visually, the entry-level BMW X1 has acquired design elements from the GP version. The best-selling premium SUV in Brazil, the X1 is produced in Araquari (SC) and is 4.50 m long, 2.69 m wheelbase, 1.84 m wide and 1.64 m high. The trunk has 476 litres.

With the new 204 HP 2.0 engine, the entry-level X1 accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.6 seconds and reaches a top speed of 236 km/h. According to Inmetro’s Conpet program, the new BMW X1 sDrive20i GP produces 10.7 km/l of petrol in the city and 13 km/l on the highway. It is already on sale on the German brand’s network.
