Even in the event of a split, the right’s goal is to defeat Boulos in the SP, says Ciro Nogueira

This was stated by Senator Ciro Nogueira (PP-PI) on Wednesday morning, the 9th, in an interview with GloboNewsthat the goal of the entire right – despite the split in some places, such as São Paulo – is to defeat the mayoral candidate Guilherme Boulos (PSOL), in this second round.

“Our main objective is to defeat Boulos. I am sure that no one on the right will prefer Boulos to Ricardo (Nunes, of the MDB, running for re-election). So this will unite us,” he said, adding that a possible victory for the psolist would be a “tragedy” for the capital San Paolo and for the country, in reference to the possible strength that the left could draw from it.

In highlighting Ricardo Nunes’ position towards former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL), the senator stressed that the emedebista fits much more as an “ally” than as a supporter of Bolsonaro. “Nunes has not admitted that he is a Bolsonarist. He is not a Bolsonarist, just like I am not,” he said.

In a fierce dispute on Sunday (6), Nunes and Boulos won the 1st round with the same percentage of valid votes: 29%, with only 25 thousand votes difference: Nunes had 29.48% of valid votes and Boulos 29 .07%.
