Tomorrow Belongs to Us: Reno’s Death, Mariana’s Future Lover… Luce Muschel’s Revelations

After the tragic loss of Renaud (Pierre Danes), Marianne (Luce Muschel) tries to find a new balance in her life in Tomorrow Belongs to Us. Much more vulnerable, but still just as strong, this is a whole new side of Mariana that viewers have been discovering for months.

How did this terrible ordeal change Dr. Delcourt? Will he give love a second chance?

During last September’s La Rochelle art festival, he met Luce Muschel, the authoritarian but bushy Marian’s interpreter, and spoke to Alocine about the future of her character.

Alocine: Going back to the beginning of your adventures in Tomorrow Belongs to Us, what attracted you to the role of Mariana?

Luce Muschel : I’ll tell you a secret, I didn’t know how it would be written. I didn’t know that Mariana would be a character with a lot of humor and second rate. What struck me from the beginning was that he was a doctor and the head of the department. Ever since I was little and before I realized that acting was possible, I wanted to be a doctor. Thus he fulfilled a kind of dream. And then I play an authoritative woman, I like it, because in life I am not like that at all. I liked all this very much.

How do you see the evolution of your character since coming to the series?

The writers humanized Mariana a lot because at first she was kind of a rock and sometimes a prison door. Everything that made her was already there, namely hypertrophic motherly love, passion for her profession and her patients. But we humanized him by giving him a lot of humor. Marian has a second quality that I have a lot in life. He is someone who hides his feelings, who has incredible modesty, and at the same time, who has a lot of tenderness for those around him. It was Renault’s death that finally allowed him to release what was in his belly.

This year, Marian experienced a terrible tragedy with the death of Reno. How did you react when you found out that the criminals were going to kill Renault?

I won’t hide that it was a shock. Pierre and I were married for 7 years (laughs). We then know that we have no control at all over this type of decision and that there is no point in rebelling against it. This is life. It can happen to us too, we are not here forever. Once the shock wore off, I read what the authors wrote and thought it was great.

I met people at the book signing yesterday, they moved me because they told me that they were touched by Reno’s death because they lost a husband or a father at that time. It’s a mini perversion of the actor, but I was able to enjoy playing some very powerful things. I wanted to be very reliable and at the same time I think I would have had a little reaction like that in my life.

After this terrible ordeal, what is Mariana’s state of mind?

He is very supportive of his family, especially his daughter, who is special. Even though they always argue, he is still the first person she calls when there is a problem. This link will be very important.

Is she open to finding love again or will she take time for herself?

Marianne is very sensitive to the fact that Sebastien (Xavier Deluc) is hitting on her. But he won’t be the only one, because Alain Lehout (Christian Vadim) also loves Mariana. He will have two suitors. If he still has Renault in his head and heart, he is not closed to love, but he does not reach it yet. At this time, it cannot respond to the petitioners’ proposals.

By the way, as an actress and at the age I am, it’s very nice to see the authors write like this and to see that Marian can still seduce me. This is important. You don’t see much on TV.

In general, what awaits Marian in the coming weeks?

There will be many very funny scenes. Mariana and Chloe (Ingrid Chauvin) will fight a lot because they will work in the same department. Mariana is not going to appreciate her daughter standing on her feet at all. This will lead to some really funny things, especially since Chloe will act like a student. It would make Mariana sick (laughs).

And then there’s this whole story with the two petitioners. There will be a sequel, but I can’t say anything because I don’t know what it will be. In any case, we open the door.

We really like the relationship between Marianna and Christel. Will the writers continue this issue in the coming months?

This is a relationship that the authors will explore. Marian and Christel (Arian Segion) have two strong characters. Mariana, who is a little stiff, and Christel always puts her foot down. It creates a dynamic that works really well. So it’s a relationship that deepens, just like with Soizic’s (Charlie Nune) character.

And the relationship between Marian and Jordan?

I love it! They have a very complicit, cross-generational, meaningful relationship that people can really identify with. And then with Maxime Leluy, we are a bit of the same nature: instinctive. I like it very much! Oh, to be continued!

Gilles (Laurent Gamelon), can Marian’s brother return to the series?

I don’t know. Anyway, I really enjoyed everything we got to play. Also, as actors, we were kind of on the same wavelength and really enjoyed playing together. The plot for which he came was excellent. I really want Laurent to come back.

Do you have any other projects besides Tomorrow Belongs To Us that you can talk about?

I have a theater project that is close to my heart. I wrote the text, which I embody myself. It’s a monologue, it’s autobiographical. It’s called “Pretend to be me”. It is the journey of a little girl from the age of 5 to 18 who becomes an actress. It will take place at the theater La FlĆØche, but only once a week. Then I will play in other theaters from January to March.
