Netflix is releasing a new Spanish mini-series soon that fans of La Casa de Papel should love. Titled Operation Banco Central, this fiction created by Patxi Amezcua (Without Limits, 7th Floor, whose Fainted in the Night remake was released on Netflix) depicts a true heist that rocked Spain.
Barcelona, 1981, barely three months after the attempted coup in the Congress of Deputies, eleven hooded men entered the headquarters of the Central Bank of Barcelona.
What begins as a spectacular heist quickly turns into a real challenge to Spain’s fledgling democracy, as the thieves hold more than 200 hostages (employees and customers) in the bank and threaten to kill them unless the government agrees to release Colonel Antonio Tejero and 23F’s Three other leaders.
