Although highly anticipated, Joker: Folie à Deux won’t be the success everyone expected, given the poor performance of Todd Phillips’ 2019 sequel to his first Joker, which was enjoyed by the public at $11 billion. At the worldwide box office – and from critics – with Oscars for Best Actor and Best Original Feature. A sequel with Joaquin Phoenix reprising his role as the Joker/Arthur Flack and Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn seems like one of the safest bets in Hollywood this year, but the outcome is quite different.
For many, this sequel is a betrayal and an insult to the community that showed up in theaters for the first chapter. Ironically, at the end of the film, a man can be seen with a smile on his face (slightly off-camera). According to a source at The Hollywood Reporter, the ending of the original script for the first film showed Phoenix’s Joker burning his face in front of fans. But Dark Knight director Christopher Nolan killed the idea, believing that only his Joker (Heath Ledger) should sculpt his face. At the time, Nolan still had a close relationship with Warner Bros., a relationship that has since soured, though he now says he’s open to working with the studio of his early successes again.
But I won’t be in the studio anymore, so I didn’t resist the idea this time, and that’s how we got this scene in the new movie.

Lady Gaga For a role inspired by the comic book character Harley Quinn. The idea for a sequel came to Phoenix in a dream, and he and Phillips pitched the idea to producer Toby Emmerich, according to sources.
Finally, some people say this Joker: Folie à Deux It is a very expensive art film. But when asked which audience it’s aimed at, an outside source, again via The Hollywood Reporter, sums it up this way: “for Joaquin.“
