Third film in the trash franchise did better than the film starring Joaquin Phoenix (Napoleon) and Lady Gaga (A Star Is Born)
The situation is not easy for Joker: Delirium for Two… In its second week in theaters, the film starring Joaquin Phoenix (Napoleon) and Lady Gaga (A Star Is Born) lost the top spot at the North American box office to Terrifier 3.
According to information from Varietyin its opening weekend, the third film in the trash franchise grossed US$18.3 million (R$101.99 million), being shown in 2,514 North American cinemas. Joker: Delirium for Twoin turn, grossed just US$7 million (R$39.01 million) with screenings in 4,102 cinemas, almost double Terrifier 3.
The value represents a drop of 81% compared to the previous week, in the debut of Joker: Delirium for Twowhen the film grossed just over US$37 million, and surpasses the numbers of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (69.9%) and The Marvels (78.1%), from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and Shazam! Fury of the Gods (69%) and The Flash (72.5%), from DC, all released in 2023.
What is the story of Joker: Delirium for Two?
In Joker: Delirium for Twowhich is a musical, Arthur Fleck (Joaquin Phoenix) is admitted to Arkham Sanitarium while awaiting trial for his crimes such as Joker. As he struggles with his dual identity, Arthur ends up encountering true love, in the form of Harley Quinn (Lady Gaga), and finds the music that has always been inside him.
In addition to Joaquin Phoenix, Zazie Beetz also returns in the second film as Sophie Drummondthe villain’s romantic interest in the first film. Among the new features, Lady Gaga is the main addition, but it also gains the company of Brendan Gleeson (The Banshees of Inisherin), Jacob Lofland (A Son), Catherine Keener (Run!), Ken Leung (Lost) and Harry Lawtey (The Pale Blue Eye).
