Fixing the damage caused to the low-voltage grid will require replacing poles and “kilometres of cables”, says the company, which claims it will restore power to everyone in three days. The deadline is the same as established by the Minister of Mines and Energy, Alexandre Silveira, so that the concessionaire can remedy the lack of electricity which still affects around 340 thousand people in the capital and in the Greater SP.

“In agreement with Aneel (National Electricity Agency), the company will respect the three-day deadline to fully restore the energy supply to all customers”, reads a note from Enel.

Despite requests from São Paulo City Hall, the São Paulo government through Procon-SP, and the federal government, the company did not provide a deadline for fully resuming operations until last Monday.

To date, the municipality of São Paulo has recorded 386 cases of falling trees. “Of these, 75 are waiting for the concessionaire to take action so that the municipal teams can start the work”, the municipal management specified on Monday evening.

Sabesp, the Basic Sanitation Services Company of the State of São Paulo, reported that some regions continue to be affected by water shortages, the supply of which was also affected by the storm. Even in Cotia, Santo André and Mauá, the distribution of water in the neighborhoods is still compromised.

With the reinforcement, the number of Enel employees in the field, working to restore electricity, is 2,900 technicians, according to the concessionaire. “To deal with critical cases, Enel has made 500 generators available (40 large ones) for essential services, such as hospitals, and for customers who depend on electricity to maintain hospital equipment, for example,” he said. informed the company.

Enel also says that it will invest around R$6.2 billion in Sao Paulo from 2024 to 2026 and that, as part of the investment plan, they are modernizing networks, expanding the capacity of communication channels with customers and hiring more employees to work in the field.
