A new mini-series that has barely been released on Netflix has already climbed to the top of the platform’s viewership charts. This fiction comes straight from Italy and is not recommended for under 16s in the Horror category.
If the warmth of the Italian setting and the soaring charisma of the main actors raises the temperature, it must be distinguished from the original British series called Doubt, with Julia Ormond and Ben Barnes, which was released in 2019 in the United Kingdom. United and will be broadcast on France 2 in 2021.
Impossible and dangerous love
For the Italian version, called L’Amour deceptive (Inganno), available on Netflix, head to a prestigious hotel on the Amalfi Coast. At the head is an elegant sixty-year-old woman, Gabriela.
Her three children are now grown and life seems to have no more surprises for her. Until she meets Elijah: a lively, free boy, the same age as her eldest son, who exerts an irresistible and terrifying charm on her.
Despite the age difference, Gabriela rediscovers herself as a lover. For Elijah, he is ready to risk everything, even his relationship with his children and their inheritance.
Created by Pappi Corsicato, the mini-series Love Deceived is an unlikely duo: Italian actress, writer and playwright Monica Guerritore (Squadra Criminale, You Can Kiss the Groom) and Italian-Canadian actor Giacomo Gianniotti, shown in Reign, Murdoch’s Secrets, but especially Grace His role as Dr. Andrew DeLuca in Anatomy made him popular.
First time for “Grey’s Anatomy” actor
Deceived Love is an opportunity for Giacomo Gianniotti to return to his Italian roots by playing Italian, but also to experiment for the first time as an actor. In fact, he trusted magazine that he never played “Nude Scenes Before” :
“It was something that scared me but attracted me at the same time. At the end of the day, it’s always the things that scare me that make me want to do something, that’s what makes you grow as an actor.”
The actor was able to rely on the greater experience of his partner Monica Guerritore, with whom he had good chemistry, to be comfortable in his first nude scenes:
“I had no experience. For me, these nude scenes were a new concept. However, we had good chemistry with Monica and we worked hard on these intimate scenes beforehand. I hope they touch the audience.”
If this mini-series made Giacomo Giannott want to, it is because of this new experience, but also because of the remarks about the sexuality of older women:
“I’m very much in favor of new, modern stories that give more space to women, and L’Amour Deceptive was an extremely feminine project, written by women for women.
There’s the issue of the age gap in love, which is quite a taboo subject, especially when the woman is older than the man, and I think it was interesting to explore and redefine that stereotype because the more it’s told on screen, the less weird or taboo it seems.”
The series “Deceived Love” is available on Netflix.
