One Piece on Netflix: The series is taking a break and here’s why!

It’s hard to keep up with One Piece news, with everything currently happening between the various studios working on Eiichiro Oda’s work. And if the projects multiply, what has comforted anime fans for more than 25 years is the almost weekly broadcast of episodes.

But that won’t be the case for a few months: Toei announced a 6-month hiatus yesterday. Viewers won’t see Luffy and the rest of the Straw Hats in Egghead until April 2025. This will also be the case for Netflix, ADN and Crunchyroll subscribers who offer it in France.

A big blow to fans of the One Piece anime, but a hiatus that can be explained by several reasons: The studios say they want “charge their batteries” and come back”Better quality animation“.

It must be said that the team at Toei did a great job on the final episodes of Egghead’s arc, a level rarely achieved in this art. And if that might put off some fans, we have to admit that the animation techniques sometimes match those of big-budget films.

Good news and bad news

But Toei is not going to leave the fans as orphans. The teams were simultaneously working on a remake of the Fish-Men arc, which will air from October 27th until next spring. On the program: a “the season” Reduced, better visual and sound effects.

Way to get past the wait and rediscover the essential arc in the One Piece universe (even if we preferred Marineford for example) that ran from 2011 to 2012. We currently do not know if this remaster will be offered in France, but there is no doubt that ADN, Crunchyroll or Netflix will try to offer these “new episodes” to French viewers.

One piece cork?

With a hiatus and the Egghead arc resuming in 2025, it’s going to be a busy year for One Piece fans. Between the Toei anime, the WIT remake being co-produced by Netflix, the live-action Season 2, and the ongoing manga publication, the Straw Hats are going to be in the spotlight more than ever.

First look at Chopper live!

And we expected no less from the masterpiece that celebrates its 25th anniversary this year.
