Was Jack Skellington the Grinch before he died? The crazy theory points out the evidence that would support it

Cartoon conspiracy theories abound today more than ever thanks to the Internet, and perhaps one that few knew about is one that claims Jack Skellington, star of The Strange World of Jack, could have been the Grinch before . died, thus connecting two iconic characters who, although they belong to different universes, have more in common than meets the eye.

The theory holds that the Grinch became Jack Skellington when he died

The Grinch, created by Dr. Seuss in 1957, is known for his hatred of Christmas and his mission to sabotage it, as depicted in the various films based on the said story. On the other hand, Jack Skellington is the king of Halloween Town, a character who lives immersed in the celebration of Halloween and discovers Christmas for the first time, obsessed with bringing it to his town the same way every year, although without fully understanding the spirit of Christmas.

The theory holds that both characters share similar traits to the point that the Grinch’s death could have transformed him into Jack.

According to those who have propagated this theory, which apparently originated on Reddit, the similarities between the two characters go beyond aesthetics. Both show obsessive behaviors. For example, the Grinch wants to destroy Christmas because he doesn’t understand its meaning, while Jack tries to take it over without fully understanding it.

Both characters have certain similarities

It is also noted that Jack could be a “skeleton” version of the Grinch, given his long, narrow body and eccentric attitude. Furthermore, both go through a narrative arc in which they go from discovering Christmas to accepting it, with a positive change towards the end of their respective stories.

While many may think this is impossible, there are those who believe it could be true as, interestingly, there are some clues. The first is that both characters have a dog: the Grinch has Max and Jack has Zero, leading to the assumption that when Max dies, he becomes Zero.

The second clue is that Jack Skellington’s name appears to be the one he was given upon his arrival in Halloween Land, but he probably had a very different one when he was alive, thus suggesting that the chances of him being the Grinch are not zero.

Of course, this connection has no official support and is unlikely to be true, given that the Jack and the Grinch films were created by different writers. Furthermore, it would be unlikely to think that when the Grinch died he would completely forget what he was like when he was alive and the love he gained for Christmas, whereas Jack always seemed to be oblivious to it.
