The singer Bruno Mars, who is on tour in Brazil, surprised fans by revealing during a show at the Estádio Morumbi, in Sao Paulo, that he is single. The artist had a long relationship with the American model Jessica Caban, who was a great source of inspiration for some of his compositions.

Over the course of 13 years together, Bruno Mars wrote several songs influenced by his personal life, particularly his relationship with Jessica. In an interview with “The Big & Best of 2012”, Bruno Mars – which was criticized for the structure of the shows in Brazil – expressed how challenging it is for him to perform this song. “It’s one of the hardest songs, because I’m so naked in this song. And of all the sensual songs I sing, this is the one that makes me the most vulnerable,” he explained.

Per Rolling Stone, Bruno confirmed that he had written “When I Was Your Man” during a moment of crisis in his relationship with Jessica Caban.
