The head of the executive, however, underlines that the PSDB, his party, remains in opposition to the PT
In an interview with CNN Brasil this Friday (18), governor Eduardo Leite declared that he supports the candidate Fernando Marroni (PT) of Pelotas. Remember that, as a citizen, his constituency is still in his hometown. The governor also explains that the municipality was divided between PT and Bolsonarism, represented by Marciano Perondi (PL). The head of the executive, however, underlines that the PSDB, his party, remains in opposition to the PT.
“Even if I don’t completely agree with his (Marroni’s) ideas, even if I have disagreements, the other party, in addition to moving far away from my way of seeing the world, is unable to present a candidacy that can say clearly what it is for the city,” Leite says.
Asked about his support for Porto Alegre’s re-elected candidate, Sebastião Melo (MDB), Leite states that the mayor’s party constitutes his government base and, therefore, the natural path would be to support him in the race for mayor of the capital.
The governor stressed several times in the interview that his support for candidate Fernando Marroni occurs as a citizen of Pelotas and is not based on party guidelines. He also claims that his “political role” was played in the first round in both Pelotas and Porto Alegre, but since his support did not go in the second round, his role is more individual.
