
The American actress Julianne Moore, winner of the Oscar for “Still Alice” (2014), was nominated this Friday (15/6) president of the jury of the 79th edition of the Venice International Film Festival.
The official announcement was made by the artistic director of Venice, Alberto Barbera.
In addition to the Oscar, Julianne Moore has also won acting awards at the three major film festivals in Europe: in Berlin for “The Hours” (2002), in Cannes for “Maps to the Stars” (2014) and at the Festival del Venice cinema for “Far from paradise” (2002).
He will succeed director Bong Joon-ho (“Parasite”), who was president of the Venice jury in 2021.
In addition to Moore, this edition’s jury will include French director Audrey Diwan, who won the last Golden Lion with her film “O Acontecimento” (currently in Brazil), Argentine Mariano Cohn (“Official Competition” ), the Italian Leonardo di Costanzo (“L’vallo”), the Spanish Rodrigo Sorogoyen (“The Beasts”), the Iranian actress Leila Hatami (“A Separation”) and the Japanese writer / screenwriter Kazuo Ishiguro (“Remains of the Day “).
He will be responsible for delivering the Golden Lion and other prizes to the films in competition at the Italian event, which this year will take place from 31 August to 10 September in the city of Venice.
