Since the launch of Plus belle la vie, even plus belle on TF1, Marie Henerez, who plays Lea Nebut, has been at the center of intrigue. Between burnout, kidnapping, and relationship crisis, this character’s day-to-day life hasn’t been easy.
And it’s not about to stop, as Leia is currently leading an investigation to find out who poisoned the Mistrals.
At the La Rochelle Fiction Festival held last September, AlloCiné caught up with Marie Heneres to discuss what’s next for her character, but also her wishes for Lea’s future. And one thing is clear, the actor is very eager to touch the doctor’s sexuality again.
AlloCiné: 9 months after Plus belle la vie, encore plus belle, what do you appreciate about the evolution of your character?
Marie Heneres : This is a very positive assessment. We touched on the issue of mental stress, school bullying and there was also kidnapping. So a lot has happened.
And I’m going to shoot very soon, which I can’t talk about. What I’m getting at is really the joy of being on set, finding these studios that have nothing to do with what they used to be. It is a feeling of pride, joy and renewed motivation. I want to do better.
You played the character of Lea for 8 years. What else do you like so much about this character?
I like Leia’s fighting side. That’s what I really like about it. She is a woman with a billion things on her mind who is a mother, a doctor, a deputy mayor and a wife. He is a modern hero.
He takes responsibility and never regrets himself. This is a real example. I am very proud of the evolution of the character, because I started in 2016 in the shoes of a young intern who did not dare to exist. Therefore, Leah had a very good development.
These 9 months were not easy for your character. He found himself stranded on an island in the middle of the sea, and his relationship with Boher experienced a certain crisis. Was the game fun?
Yes, because I had very eclectic and very different stories. Because of the abduction, I didn’t expect us to go straight back to something so extreme. And it has gone down very well with new directors who want to do well.
This is what is extraordinary about Plus belle la vie: everyone always wants to be better. There is an atmosphere, a quality of work and a sense of mutual respect that is truly rare. There is a real passion for work.
The relationship between Lea and Jean-Paul has also been at the center of intrigue this summer. Odysseus kisses Leia and has feelings for her. When Jean-Paul learned about it, he took it very badly. Did the couple really reconcile?
I guess Leah doesn’t have much time to have relationship problems. She is still in love with Jean-Paul. But he has so many things to manage that it is not easy for him to keep space for the couple.
I don’t think he cares about Ulysses at all. Where I hope there will be trouble is more in terms of her sexuality. He may have questions about his past lesbian life.
I really wish this was a hot topic again. I don’t think it’s about the writers because they don’t want to touch on the Leah-Boher couple.
And at the same time, this is not the destruction of the couple, but only returning to the table. I don’t know if we can reconcile, but polyamory exists. It might be very interesting for Bohr’s character to admit that his wife is dating another woman. I think springs should be created there.
Speaking of which, would you rather have Leah kiss a woman than Ulysses in this plot?
Yes, I prefer it. He would be really upset there and I wouldn’t play those scenes like that. But at first I was surprised that the authors did this story with Ulysses. I think they were inspired when they saw us on screen with Jeremy Charve and wanted to create that story.
The relationship between Lea and Lucy is very beautiful. Is this something we’ll see more of in future stories?
I can’t tell you more because I don’t have any information on this topic. But I have hope. I find the relationship between daughter-in-law and mother-in-law fascinating. It’s not always easy.
There we feel that the link is very healthy. I think there are some very nice things to write about this. And Agathe Dodemann, who plays the role of Lucy, is a very conscientious and hardworking young actress.
He is even more serious than us. He always knows his lines and is hyper-focused. He is very invested and loves what he does. He is quite remarkably mature.
What would you like for the future of your character?
As I mentioned before, I wish he had stories with girls. But otherwise, I really like what happens to Leah in the next stories. Otherwise, I probably want a little more story about friendship and ease. For example, with Jennifer, I want to have a female friendship, because ultimately Leah doesn’t have much fun.
Is there an actor or character you wish would return to Plus belle la vie?
I really want Lori Bordesul, who played my twin sister Emily, to return to the series. That would be really great. That’s my number one choice, I’d love to play Lea Duverney, who played the gendarme that Lea had a history with. By the way, I create music with him.
