The candidates Guilherme Boulos (PSOL) e Ricardo Nunes (MDB) commented on their impressions after the debate held on Saturday 19th, promoted by Record, Estadão and Eldorado radios. “A lot will happen until the 27th. You can be sure of that. Many things will come to light and be made public by the 27th. He knows what I’m talking about. And that’s why I was so angry. Look, there are ongoing accusations, there is information that we have received and that will be made public,” Boulos told reporters at the end of the debate.

The candidate also left on the air an announcement that he intends to make on Monday the 22nd, together with President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT). This news, however, would only be linked to his campaign, not to mayor Ricardo Nunes.

Ricardo Nunes, questioned by journalists about Boulos’ statements regarding the possibility of new compromising information emerging about his administration by the 27th, the day of the second round, defended himself by claiming to have an “absolutely clean story”. He added: “I thank God that I have nothing [errado] in my life. From my side everything is fine.”

The current mayor continued to defend his reputation, citing his experience as a two-term city councilor. “I think he became desperate, because his statements don’t make any sense,” he added.
He also claimed that Boulos in his statements during the debates was simply trying to “cut off his social networks”. “Unfortunately we see this type of behavior, which I thought was already in the past,” he said, referring to his former opponent, Pablo Marçal.
Furthermore, the re-election candidate referred to his statement that he had seen children playing at night in the central area of São Paulo. “Regarding Praça da Sé it was a day I spent there and I was doing an activity with the children,” he said.
When journalists asked him if he felt safe moving around the city at night, the mayor replied that the number of Guardia Civil Metropolitana (GCM) officers in the municipality had increased. “I didn’t feel like it [seguro] before, that’s why we improved the safety issue.”
