The horror franchise The Walking Dead still has great surprises for its millions of fans. The television adaptation of Robert Kirkman’s comics spawned a series of spin-offs: Fear the Walking Dead, World Beyond, the anthology Tales of the Walking Dead, and finally the spin-offs Daryl Dixon, Dead City, and The Ones Who Live with Rick. Grimes and Michonne.
To connect all these series, many characters were transferred from one to another. But a number of winks also allowed fans to make connections between all of these performances, and that’s especially true of the message, which has appeared multiple times in several episodes of the franchise.
A message we see in several series
In the first episode of the original series, Rick Grimes wakes up in a deserted hospital after a long coma. The latter still does not know that humanity has been killed by the undead, but he discovers this when he sees the following message written on a barricaded door: “Don’t open, dead inside” (“Don’t open the dead, dead inside”).
Sure enough, there are guards inside the room, desperately trying to force their way through. This tagline is among the most iconic elements of The Walking Dead and many products produced have received this tagline. This message has since appeared in other spin-off series.
Thus, in the first episode of Dead City, the inscription is visible, but with an interesting variation: the message is written from inside the building where Negan took refuge, so it is assumed that the danger is outside this time.

A variation of this message can also be seen in Daryl Dixon’s series. In the first episode of the show, the title character, played by Norman Reedus, enters a building full of dead people. Lack of French prevented him from reading the warning message painted on the entrance wall: “Beware the Hungry”.
Season 2 of Daryl Dixon is currently offered weekly on Paramount+, and is also available on Canal+ subscriptions.
