In 2022, Malik Bentalha moved to the other side of the camera to direct The Mysteries of Jack Mimoun and Val Verde. A funny and exciting adventure comedy, performed by actors who are not novices in terms of humor.

Co-directed by Ludovic Colbo-Justin (Lion) This film tells the story of Jack Mimoun, an adventurer living alone on the hostile island of Val Verde. After returning two years ago, Jack recounted his experience in a show watched by thousands of viewers.

But one day, he crosses paths with Aurelie Diaz, a mysterious woman who convinces him to return to the island in search of treasure, and not just any treasure, for it is a legendary pirate sword. Accompanied by his two henchmen, Bruno Kezac and Jean-Marc Bastos, Jack returns to face the dangers of Val Verde Island.

We meet at the casting Malik Bentalhawho works in front of and behind the camera, Jérôme Commando, Francois Damianes, Josephine Yap and even Benoit Magimel.

In Jack Mimoun and the Mysteries of Val Verde, Malik Bentalha Plays TV adventurers. His idols are Indiana Jones, Alan Quatermain, Alan Grant in the Jurassic Park saga… Heroes who were born in the 80s like him.

Speaking to our colleagues at TF1, the actor and director confided in particular: “We worked really hard and wrote to pay homage to the adventure films, this is a declaration of love for the cinema of the 80s”.

But they are not the only adventurers who have inspired Malik Bentalha. He also drew inspiration from Mike Horn and Bear Grylls: “And I added my touch on the slightly clumsy side.” Because Jack Mimoun and the Mysteries of Val Verde It is both an adventure film and a true comedy.

A precisely balanced mix of genres that should please young and old alike, as the comedian, actor and now director wants: “I said to myself: if one day I get the chance to go behind the camera, I also want to offer you a trip and dream a little for the little one and the oldest one.” It’s done!
