The 2010s were very fruitful in terms of science fiction blockbusters for teenagers and young adults. During the decade, many dystopian franchises filled with drama, action, futuristic scenes, fighting characters and socio-political conspiracies and battles hit the box office.
You may remember The Hunger Games, which continues with new movies like The Ballad of the Serpent and Songbird and Divergent, but there is another saga, also adapted from successful novels, that has also captured the hearts of an entire generation. And the good news is, you’ll be able to (re)discover this franchise on Prime Video.
‘Labyrinth’ Trilogy To Re-Watch… Before It Comes Back?
Consider the post-apocalyptic sci-fi franchise Labyrinth, which consists of three films, Labyrinth (2014), Labyrinth: Scorched Earth (2015), and Labyrinth: The Deadly Cure (2018), and is adapted from James Dashner’s novels.
This franchise tells the story of survivors in a giant labyrinth whose plan changes every night. The protagonist Thomas finds himself trapped and has no memory of the outside world except for strange dreams about a secret organization called WCKD.
By connecting certain fragments of his past with the clues he finds in the maze, Thomas hopes to find a way out and help his new companions who are in trouble to escape.
Directed by Wes Ball, the trilogy was a real success at the box office with a cumulative total of almost $1 billion worldwide (and a cumulative receipt of 9 million in France) for three films, Labyrinth left its mark on an entire generation, like The Hunger Games. and different.
The Labyrinth saga has often been praised for its well-crafted plot, fascinating and dangerous dystopian world.
And it may not end! Indeed, 20th Century Fox recently announced that the saga will be renewed with a “new version” of Labyrinth, produced by Wes Ball, who recently directed Planet of the Apes: The New Kingdom. In the meantime, you can rewatch the original trilogy on Prime Video.
