Cult, a TV series inspired by the behind-the-scenes creation of Loft Story, is available from October 18 on Amazon Prime Video. So it’s been a few days since you probably took the time to discover this new little nugget. But did you get the ending right?
We remind you that in the last episode, Isabel (Anaid Rozam) manages to keep her job by betraying her friends. After that we can hear the flagship song of the musical, Romeo and Juliet, Kings of the World. Particularly interested in the selection of this legendary work, the editors of AlloCiné asked the creators of the series, Mate Ruman and Nikolas Slomka:
“We first chose it because it dates from that era. The title is really the culmination of our exploration of the characters. They’ve become the kings of the world. And the phrase ‘I don’t care much about morality, we know we are,’ ‘doing no harm’ echoes things like, which were questioned during the series.
“There is an ethical question”
“It’s an ethical question, aren’t we sitting?” This is also a major question for M6’s boss character. Does the moral problem reach him? Will it pass on this troubled show? But there is. Something else in this song that spoke to us is the sentence, “They’ve got people around them, but they’re lonely.”
“It’s true that our heroes win in the end, but the victory has cost them something human, and they also face some loneliness. It must be said that the series is also about characters who desperately want to belong in a world that eludes them, as the two creators explain:
“How far are you willing to go to become an insider?”
“That’s why the first episode is called Outsiders and the last episode is called Insiders, because we’re saying that this environment is hyper, hyper, hyper combative, and so how do we go about becoming insiders? You don’t have to do how far are you willing to go to become an insider?” Enough to think long and hard about this last episode!
