The most beautiful cinema in the world now has super powerful screens

Known as the most beautiful cinema in the world, the Pathé Palace, in Paris, France, has reopened after five years of renovations with new experiences powered by Samsung electronics.

The unique venue with Renzo Piano’s architecture now features six new LED screens: four Onyx 4K measuring more than 10 meters wide and two Onyx 2K measuring 5 meters wide, promising another level of image quality.

“These cutting-edge screens brilliantly juxtapose historic cinema, fusing the classic with the modern to offer viewers a truly unique experience,” said Menno van den Berg, President of Samsung Electronics France.

According to the South Korean manufacturer, Samsung Onyx is the world’s first Digital Cinema Initiatives (DCI) certified cinema LED display for cinema shows. The screens are six times brighter than typical movie projectors, allowing for more vibrant colors.

“Films are most powerful when they completely immerse us in their worlds, and technology plays a crucial role in this magic,” said Jacques Durand, Chief Information Officer of the Pathé Group.

The new technology also promises better brightness and consistent color amplification in 3D movies. “Subtitle text and even the smallest visual details achieve unprecedented clarity and less dizziness than you might experience in traditional 3D theaters.”

Complete experience

Pathé Palace audiences will also have the opportunity to view cinema programs and film trailers via Smart Signage. According to the company, the technology brings posters to life with more than 1 billion colors available.

The main lobby has a version of The Wall, which increases the resolution to 8K and optimizes the image quality for less visual noise. The screen uses MICRO LED technology, which controls pixels individually to provide precision and depth to the image.

Samsung’s partnership with Pathé is not new: the manufacturer has already created installations at the Pathé Beaugrenelle units, in Paris, and at Pathé Bellecour, in Lyon.
