New films Planet of the Apes, Alien and Predator announced

The president of 20th Century Studios (formerly FOX and now part of Disney), Steve Asbell, revealed plans for several successful franchises, during an interview with the US portal The Hollywood journalist. Among the major announcements, the executive provided details on sequences from films such as Avatar, Predator and Planet of the Apes.

A new chapter of “Planet of the Apes” is scheduled for 2027, while “Avatar: Fire and Ash” (previously announced) will premiere in December 2025. The Alien saga will also have a direct sequel to “Alien: Romulus ” . The new film will retain protagonists Rain and Andy, played by Cailee Spaeny and David Jonsson, with negotiations underway for the return of director Fede Alvarez.

The Predator universe will also receive special attention, with two simultaneous projects in development. “Predator: Badlands” will be released in theaters in 2025, under the direction of Dan Trachtenberg, who will also direct a second film in the series scheduled for the same year. Trachtenberg, known for the acclaimed “The Predator: The Hunt” (2022), promises different approaches for each production.

Agatha Christie’s literary legacy will also gain importance with new film adaptations. The studio is preparing versions of “No Sobrou None”, “Witness for the Prosecution” and a new story with Miss Marple, continuing the success of recent productions with Kenneth Branagh.

Additional projects include a prequel to “Master of the Seas,” which already has a finalized script and is awaiting the director’s decision. For “Maximum Speed,” there is interest in reuniting Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock, conditioned by a script that justifies the duo’s return.
