An extraordinary performance and a lot of emotions

Won by a very large majority of Internet users who posted a review. Tahar Rahim’s role as Charles Aznour is very often mentioned. Netizens say they have been transferred.

Olivier G. (4.5/5):A remarkably well-written film that helps us understand the fate of the nobility, its moments of genius, its dark sides, but also the genesis of some of its most beautiful songs. The dramatic but also musical interpretation of the actors is amazing and never falls into an overplayed caricature. Well done!

IV 4. (4.5/5):A biopic that will be a hit, a guaranteed emotional sequence…

Niko F (4.5/5):Real emotion throughout the film…obsession, the street, Edith Piaf, adversity, talent, hard work…a very powerful story of this monster who was a gentry. A must see. Tahar Rahim is stunning.

too classic?

Netizens who were less enthusiastic about the film felt that the film was too classic, too long, and too fast-paced.

Guy67 (2.5/5): “The acting is great, but the film itself is classic, without much cinematic interest. This is once again a biopic, formatted for the general public and the awards that come with it.”

Cool_92 (2.5/5): “Disappointment for me. The film depicts the rise of the aristocracy through certain encounters and fragments of his life. The movie is long (2h 13) and yet, every episode of life is cut short. Moreover, the film goes in all directions. Instead of seeing the gentry, we see Raheem doing the gentry. The film also gives a bad image of the artist. He is as unsympathetic as can be. The actress who plays Piaf stands out in my opinion. I expected better from the directing duo, even if we felt interest in this project.”

alco8 (1.5/5): “Another biographical, illustrative, without real incarnation, we play on the likeness and gestures of the nobility, and it stops there. Makeup doesn’t help. Moreover, the principle, a moment of life = a song, is redundant and boring. In short, we fly over 50 years of his life, a few songs and that’s it.
