‘I wish I could go back’: This Avengers actor regrets his role

Finding a real role and place for many of their heroes in Avengers Infinity War and Endgame was undoubtedly a major scripting challenge for the Russo brothers. Even if the two directors managed to ensure that everyone had a roughly equal share, some characters still inherited a more important function than others in the apotheosis of Phase IV.

This is especially true of Gamora (a prominent member of the Guardians of the Galaxy), mainly due to her close ties to the big bad Thanos, as she is none other than his adopted daughter. A status that led him to several decisive confrontations with the Mad Titan, leading to a major Marvel fan following.

But after 5 years at Variety’s microphoneGamora’s interpreter expressed regret, explaining that she didn’t really understand the magnitude of her role at the time:

“I wish I could go back and do what Gamora went through in the Avengers movies.”Zoe Saldana said.

“I really didn’t understand what the Russo brothers were doing. They are great directors and the opportunity they gave me was unique. I will always be grateful to have such a focus on Gamora in their films.”

“I wish I could go back and do it all over again, to take things a little bit further, because it was a really great opportunity to play a girl who had a lot of problems with her father, reconciled with him who decided to walk away. It would have been a great opportunity if I was a little more aware of it at the time.”
