‘Father there is only one 3’: The motherhood test with Toni Acosta

We talk to the actress, who returns to get into the skin of the matriarch of the family in the third installment of the saga created by Santiago Segura.

The brand new last presenter of our Silver Frames has become, by right, the new mother of Spain. And all thanks to the saga of ‘Father there is only one’, created by Santiago Segura and whose third installment is already in theaters. Tony Acosta once again get into the shoes of Marisa, the long-suffering mother of the highest-grossing clan in Spanish cinema in recent years, in a new adventure, this time… set in the middle of Christmas! A lost figurine from the nativity scene triggers a series of hilarious situations that, once again, will put the clan in check, which is joined by a new member: Marisa’s father, played by Carlos Iglesias.

On the occasion of the premiere of the film, we have proposed Toni Acosta to undergo a test on motherhood. Something that, on the other hand, she knows a lot about, since she has two teenage children: Nicolás and Julia. “It’s a step further that I hope one day to portray with Santiago safe in a movie”, tells us laughing. The actress acknowledges that she discovered “what kind of mother” she was, precisely, she with her first child. And, despite having promised himself over and over again not to make the same “mistakes” (which, in reality, they never are), as his parents, he assures that, on more than one occasion, he has seen himself repeating taglines that he swore not to mention in life: “For example, the famous ‘I told you so’”.

    Mother or friend?

Toni would also recommend new mothers to “observe their babies a lot” and, when the time comes, keep a safe distance: “You can be a mother and be very complicit, have intimacy… But not a friend.”

The most important thing, he confesses, is knowing how to grow with them. “There have been times when I have become modern”, tells us laughing. “And now, for example, my son, a wonderful boy, is going to study abroad. I try to manage it as a step towards his maturity and his maturity, not as a terrible moment ”.

Because, once again, he knows what he’s talking about. “I was a tremendously independent daughter and with things always very clear. I came to Madrid to be an actress, but my parents didn’t understand it until much later. My mother was a seamstress and my father was a truck driver in a neighborhood in Tenerife. So, at the time it was like, ‘What do you say?’” she recalls.

And then comes the big question: Is there only one Mother? “Absolutely,” she tells us flatly. “She is the one who praises you when you do well, but she limits you. The one you always turn to. A mother endures, for example, an afternoon of shopping with her daughter. Look, with that she would punish many parents, ”she laughs.
