Bruce Willis has played a host of memorable movie characters over the course of his decade-long career, but arguably the most recognizable is die HardIt’s Jack McClane. Many will surely remember the first time they saw the police detective confronting terrorists in the 1988 blockbuster. As iconic as the character himself, however, is the film’s fictional setting: Nakatomi Plaza. The Los Angeles skyscraper is still a popular spot 34 years later, and Willis himself visited it recently. There are also footage of the sweet ride, which is sure to give fans all the excitement.
The sweet moment was captured by Bruce Willis’ wife, Emma Heming Willis, who shared a clip with him. instagram account. The post features a black and white clip of Bruce standing on top of the building, which is actually Fox Plaza, and looking around. The post also contains image snippets from die Hard himself. Has anyone else had a warm fuzzy feeling while looking at this post? It is simply delightful to see the 67-year-old actor touring the landmark of cinema. To him, it probably looks like yesterday as he walked around the structure barefoot, in tatters and with a machine gun in his hand. Calling it a surreal moment would be an understatement, and I guess the star is enjoying it.
At this point, the film that launched the action franchise is incredibly in tune with the pop culture era. He is still heavily quoted by viewers today and still shows their love on social media from time to time. This enduring popularity is probably the reason Bruce Willis has found a way to carry die Hard Backwards in 2020. He reunited with former co-stars. De’voreaux White (Argyle) and Clarence Gilyard Jr. (Theo) for a simply perfect advertisement.
Of course, nostalgic TV promotions aren’t the only things that get fans talking about the John McTiernan-directed film. Even today, many wonder if this is really a Christmas movie. It’s a topic that really captures the world of cinema, even with Democrats in the House are opening the door to more in-depth debate a few years ago with a wish for Christmas. OG star Reginald VelJohnson stepped in about it, and actually thinks it’s a legitimate Christmas movie. (And to be honest, I totally agree with him.)
While this recent post is likely to spark some good feelings (and perhaps even more debate) among the audience, it’s hard not to think about this time in Bruce Willis’ life to come. Earlier this year, Willis has officially retired from acting because he was diagnosed with aphasia, a cognitive disease that affects the ability to understand or articulate language. Emma Heming Willis admitted that it was difficult to take care of her husband during this time. However, she and Bruce seem to have a stable support system and seem to make the most of sweet moments like this trip to Nakatomi Plaza.
