Summary

Five federal deputies have been elected mayors of Brazilian cities in the second round of the 2024 municipal elections.




Five federal deputies were elected this Sunday, the 27th, to fill the mayors of the Brazilian cities where the ballot took place. Among those chosen are the new CEOs of two capitals: Cuiabá (MT) and Natal (RN).

You the five elected this Sunday join the other six who won in the first round. Therefore, 11 federal deputies won the office of mayor this year. In the 2020 elections, eight deputies were elected mayors.

In total, 82 parliamentary candidates competed in the 2024 municipal elections: 73 sought to be elected mayor, two sought to be deputy mayor, and 7 sought to be elected councillors.

Below is the list of federal deputies elected in the second round:

  • Abilio Brunini (PL) – Cuiabá (MT)

  • Paulinho Freire (União) – Natal (RN)

  • Márcio Correa (PL) – Anápolis (GO)

  • Naumi Amorim (PSD) – Caucaia (CE)

  • Ricardo Silva (PSD) – Ribeirão Preto (SP)



  • Federal deputies Ricardo Silva, Márcio Correa, Paulinho Freire, Naumi Amorim and Abilio Brunini were elected mayors in the second round of the 2024 elections

Six other deputies ran for mayor in the capitals, but were not elected: André Fernandes (PL), in Fortaleza (CE); Captain Alberto Neto (PL), in Manaus (AM); the Delegate Éder Mauro (PL), in Belém (PA); Guilherme Boulos (Psol), in San Paolo (SP); Maria do Rosário (PT), in Porto Alegre (RS); and Natália Bonavides (PT), in Natal (RN).

In addition to the candidates for the capital municipalities, the following deputies did not obtain a majority of votes in the second round:

  • Alex Manente (Citizenship) – São Bernardo do Campo (SP)
  • Carlos Jordy (PL) – Niterói (RJ)
  • Mariana Carvalho (Republicans) – Imperatriz (MA)
  • Professor Alcides (PL) – Aparecida de Goiânia (GO)
  • Rosana Valle (PL) – Santos (SP)

First round

In the first round, on 6 October, six deputies were elected to fill the position of mayor. I am:

  • Alberto Mourão (MDB) – Praia Grande (SP)
  • Carmen Zanotto (Citizenship) – Lages (SC)
  • Dr. Benjamim (União) – Açailândia (MA)
  • Gerlen Diniz (PP) – Sena Madureira (AC)
  • Hélio Leite (União) – Castanhal (PA)
  • Washington Quaquá (PT) – Maricá (RJ)
