After revisiting Evil Dead, director Fede Alvarez had the difficult task of launching the Alien franchise with Romulus, a film set between Ridley Scott’s first installment and James Cameron’s second installment.
The blockbuster hit the theaters with great acclaim from critics and the public. enough to confirm the studio’s continuation.
Twentieth Century Studios director Steve Asbell revealed the information in an interview with the magazine. The Hollywood Reporter on future projects of the company. to the question “What are Alien’s plans?“, he answers:
“We are currently working on a sequel idea. We haven’t finalized our deal with Fede yet, but we’re going to and he has an idea we’re working on.“
The two survivors return?
Steve Asbell also indicates that the two survivors, Rain and Andy, played by Kailey Spahn and David Johnson, will return for this new storyline. “We know there will be aliens. We know there will be some great sets. But I fell in love with both of them and want to see what their story is.”
With a budget of $80 million, Alien: Romulus grossed over $350 million worldwide. It even exceeded a million viewers in France.
In anticipation of that sequel, a series centered on the Alien world from the creator of Fargo, called Alien: Earth, is planned for 2025 for American platform Hulu – and possibly Disney+ in France.
