Is Netflix carrying its new hit series? This Thursday, October 24, the platform presented six episodes of Territory, its brand new product, which many are already comparing to Yellowstone. This contemporary western is set in the Australian outback and depicts the complicated legacy of the ranch in the Lawson family from generation to generation.
This series stars Anna Torvi, known to the general public for her roles in Mindhunter and The Last of Us. Ranch, Colin Lawson – and the ambitions of his own brother, Hank Hodge.
A western series that is eye-opening
A real soap opera in the world of cowboys, the territory is a series that is easier to shoot because the program only has six episodes. This is while waiting for the show to be renewed by Netflix, as the open ending of episode six confirms that a season 2 is indeed planned by the writers.
In the first feedback that reached us, Internet users of AlloCiné highlighted the beauty of the scenery (the series is partly shot in natural surroundings) and praised the acting of the actors. However, some criticized the quality of the script and dialogues, as well as the sometimes too conventional aspect of the show. Thus, this Monday, October 28, the series’ viewership rating is barely 3.4 out of 5.
So we’ll have to wait a few more days to find out if this proves to be an audience hit on Netflix. Will this momentum, driven more by curiosity than popular enthusiasm, be enough to convince the platform to order 2 seasons for the program?
All six episodes of Territory’s first season are now available exclusively on Netflix.
