In 1960s New York, the men and women who work at Sterling Cooper, one of the city’s growing advertising agencies, face many challenges as the company tries to adapt to a growing industry to ensure its survival.
At the center of the agency, ambitious and enigmatic creative genius Don Draper (Jon Hamm) is one of advertising’s greats – one of the self-proclaimed “Mad Men”. But if he’s on top of his game, Donnie, the master manipulator that he is, is hiding many secrets, also haunted by a troubled past. But he can still rely on his outward confidence, a veritable mask that hides this father’s many insecurities – and many vices – with great looks (a little too much?).
In 2007, “Mad Men” went live: no one expected that this first original creation from a cable channel with unknown actors would become one of the most famous shows in the world. Despite its timid beginnings, its audience quickly grew – especially after the many awards the series received in its first year. The rest is history.
mad men It’s a portrait of a 60s ad agency populated by men in suits – drinks in hand and cigarettes in mouth – and their perfect secretaries, real geeks. Overly ambitious and passionately genius, these “madmen” are aptly named: the title of the series refers to the “Mad” Avenue “ad men” of New York’s street advertising.
The show meddles in the personal and professional life of its protagonist, and especially in the life of Don Draper. Like Tony Soprano before him or Walter White after him, Donnie is a tragic and charismatic anti-hero who we love to hate – or hate to love, depending on your point of view.

Absolutely riveting and thrilling, one of the strengths of Matthew Weiner’s series is that it accurately captures the ever-changing moods and social mores of the 1960s and 1970s, while remaining relevant and offering a smart critique of consumerism then and now.
