It’s (finally) summer! Although the season rhymes with the word “holiday,” many parents are wondering which series to recommend to their children, or which programs are best for family viewing. This is especially true of Japanese animation, which is widely represented in the catalog of the Netflix platform.

Don’t know which series to recommend to your child, for fear of choosing a program that will not be suitable for his age? Looking for advice and want to find a nugget that will appeal to both young and old? So here are our five Japanese anime recommendations aimed at the whole family!

Making history as the first Japanese anime to be adapted from a French manga, Radiant is the work of author/designer Tony Valente (Ankama Publications). Blending fantasy and fantasy, this series follows the adventures of a young sorcerer, ostracized by society for his “infected” nature, but determined to destroy a demonic nemesis to restore peace on Earth. During his adventures, the latter explores a world larger than meets the eye and meets allies willing to do anything to help him complete his heroic quest.

Over the course of the episodes, his neighbors, whom they befriend, will guess about Kotaro’s complicated and painful past…so you’ll realize that in its faux offbeat comedy atmosphere, this anime is actually a drama that explores childhood wounds.

But dramatic situations are most often relieved by Kotaro’s atypical personality, who possesses the naivety of childhood but also knows how to be more mature than his older friends. You’ll love laughing and crying as a family through ten episodes of this short series.
