Netflix: After a 3-year wait, this fantastic series is back… but with a major twist

After three years of waiting, the memories of the audience are not very fresh anymore. Thus, fans of the fantasy series Hellbound may not have noticed this change of artist, which still concerns the main character of the program.

It must be said that in terms of promotion, everything was done to make this change as inconspicuous as possible.

Hellbound is set in a world where strange prophecies tell random people about their impending death. Three beings endowed with extraordinary power are responsible for this execution. The appearance of these phenomena will lead to the creation of a sect called the New Truth.

The dark reason for this change of actor!

The founder of this organization is Jung Jin-soo. The latter plays a major role in the first three episodes of the first season before a prophecy sends him to Hell.

His death didn’t spell the end of the sect, however, and his surprise appearance in the first episode of season two could have significant consequences. In his resurrection, Jung Jin-soo wakes up in the bodies of several more victims before returning to his own body.

The most observant fans were able to point out that the character is no longer played by the same actor. In season 2, Kim Sung-cheol plays the character, replacing Yoo Ah-in, who played him in season 1.

Left Yoo Ah-in (season 1), right Kim Sung-cheol (season 2)

This change of the actor is explained by the latter’s personal failures. Last year, Yeo Ah-in was sentenced to a year in prison for drug use. She was also the subject of a rape complaint that was dismissed by a South Korean court. “lack of sufficient evidence”.

Despite everything, these two cases had a very negative effect on his career, as evidenced by his dismissal from the cast of Hellbound.

Season 2 of Hellbound, released on October 25, is currently the most-watched series on Netflix in France.
