Outlast is part of the Survival Horror genre that takes inspiration from exactly what we call it Footage found in the cinema. Literally, like found footage that gets turned into a movie like Blair Witch, or even Rec.
Outlast is one of the most gruesome and traumatic games I’ve ever seen, developed 12 years ago by Canadian studio Red Barrels, founded by former big names from major publishers/studios.
In the game, you play as journalist Miles Upshur, who investigates an asylum where an unpleasant experience may have occurred. Armed with just a video camera, the character had to run for his life while trying to gather enough information to understand what was happening in front of him… Honestly, you have to have a damn strong heart by the end of the adventure.
Outlast has been released in several games. to continue Past IIReleased in 2017. The third part was released in March 2024. Outlast TrialsWhich is not a direct sequel though. As I remind you termThe franchise has 37 million players worldwide. Is it a good sign to be the beginning of a new film franchise, or will this first film project find its audience?
Recently, several video games have been adapted for film, such as Borderlands, Sonic, whose 3rd installment will be released in 2025, and of course Mario Bros.
