“Presence,” Steven Soderbergh’s new film, follows a supernatural entity that haunts a family
Disturbing with a new perspective
Neon has released the trailer for “Presence”, a psychological thriller directed by Steven Soderbergh and purchased by the distributor during this year’s Sundance Festival. Known for his unusual choices, the “Contagion” winning director presents a horror story from the point of view of a ghost that follows every detail of a family’s life in their new home.
The film explores the daily life of this entity, which already inhabited the place even before the family moved, observing its most intimate and uncomfortable moments. The narrative pays particular attention to young Chloe (Callina Liang), the teenage daughter who seems to be the center of attention of a supernatural presence. Over time, the fan begins to understand what he needs to achieve his goal and how he can achieve it. Inspired by rumors about a house where Soderbergh lived, the plot brings to light a suspenseful atmosphere.
Screenplay and cast
The screenplay was written by David Koepp, author of blockbusters that launched successful franchises such as “Jurassic Park”, “Mission: Impossible” and “Spider-Man”, and who had already worked with Soderbergh on the film “Kimi” (2022 ). . The cast is led by Lucy Liu (“Kill Bill: Vol. 1”), Julia Fox (“Uncut Gems”), Chris Sullivan (“This Is Us”), Callina Liang (“Foundation”), West Mulholland (“Dark Harvest”) and newcomer Eddy Maday.
It is scheduled to premiere on March 6 in Brazil, two months after its launch in the United States.
