Warning – The following article contains spoilers for “Venom 3”. So please go ahead if you haven’t seen it.
We’ve known this since 2018 and the release of the first Venom: Spider-Man, that managing the rights to the catalog shared between Sony and Marvel Studios is difficult. So much so that the former can’t call Spider-Man as he wants when he develops films around his enemies.
The superhero was therefore conspicuous by his absence in the first two Venoms, but also in Morbius (where he was mentioned in a post-credits scene involving the Vulture, played by Michael Keaton, Tom Holland’s adversary in Homecoming) and Madame Web. He showed us a baby Peter Parker.
However, fans were hoping to see him in the third and final Venom movie, worn by Tom Hardy. Because he seems incomplete without Spider-Man, of whom he is the double negative. Then because, as with every Sony film release since No Way Home , an unfounded rumor announced the presence of Andrew Garfield in the credits.
A rumor that was boosted in this case by the sight of Rhys Iffan in the casting, as the latter played the Lizard in The Amazing Spider-Man opposite him. Except the actor plays a completely different role in Venom – The Last Dance: Martin, the somewhat hippie dad that Eddie Brock meets on his travels.
for what This is a question we may not have an answer to immediately. But what we do care about is unfortunately the negative: No, Spider-Man is not in the movie. Including when Eddie is in New York in the final scene. And it should disappoint fans (those who are undecided, anyway) who were hoping to see the hero and his nemesis face off in a movie for the first time since 2007.
Is Venom coming back in 2026?
But maybe it’s just a delay. With the trilogy complete with Tom Hardy, Marvel Studios can introduce its own version of Venom without risking confusion among audiences, even if it means pulling a card. “many worlds” to be able to go in another direction.
Especially since one element remains unresolved: this piece of the symbiote remains in Tom Holland’s Peter Parker world in the post-credits scene of No Way Home, when Eddie and Venom are sent home the moment the multiverse’s loopholes close. The Last Dance never returns to him, but it’s better for the MCU to do so.
Will we see you in July 2026 when the next Spider-Man with Tom Holland comes out? Meanwhile, the question of Spider-Man’s existence will no doubt be raised in December when Kraven, Sony’s next opus, hits our screens. And the answer is likely to be the same.
