‘She Called’: 25 Years Later, Sixth Sense Little Boy Remembers Bruce Willis

Haley Joel Osment recently opened up about her time.fantastic“How the child actor worked with Bruce Willis on M. Night Shyamalan’s The Sixth Sense (1999) – for which he was nominated for an Academy Award – and how their behind-the-scenes friendship continued over the years.

“I heard a lot of things over the next few years after the movie came out– he told Entertainment Weekly. “He would leave voicemails at home from time to time, just to check on me. He used to call out pointlessly, so sometimes he was ahead of the trip. We went to Japan together twice, if I remember correctly, to perform The Sixth Sense in different cities. Before that she would call, sometimes I would come home from school and the answering machine would flash and she would say, “Hey, Haley Joel. I’m just saying hello.“

“I need to find these old messages. I know we kept them. I know his daughters a little but haven’t spoken to him since I heard about his health in recent yearsOsment added.

In 2022, the family Bruce Willis Announced post-retirement diagnosis of aphasia, which progressed to frontotemporal dementia the following year.

In the sixth sense, Bruce Willis plays child psychologist Dr. Malcolm Crowe, who tries to help young Cole Sear (Haley Joel Osment) while he is visited by ghosts. The film received six Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture and Best Supporting Actor for The Little Boy.

“I have already worked Tom Hanks on Forrest Gump and other famous actors, but by then I was old enough to have seen many of Bruce’s movies, which caused quite a stirE”, he recalls. “And that’s something that continues in a career where you get to work with people you’ve loved seeing in other movies. And that really impressed me because he was the first giant celebrity I ever worked with at an age where I knew he was a celebrity.“

Haley Joel Osment continued: “He did everything so cool and had such charisma, and he was someone you wanted on set to set the tone for the kind of movie we were making, because things usually revolve around No. 1 on the call list. It was a story that we all felt strongly about and worked really hard for, and Bruce brought it along.“
