Starting tonight, France 2 is airing a TV movie called “Seoul”. Inspired by the fascinating voyage of navigator Yves Parlier, this fiction chronicles the Vande Globus that turned his life upside down.
According to the press release, in November 2000, the navigator was preparing for the Sea Everest competition. This solo world tour with no stops or assistance is a great opportunity to rise to the heights of your favorite childhood heroes. But this adventure quickly turns into a nightmare for the competitor!
Then he will have to use all his wits to get out of this situation, if he does not want to give up his life’s dream. Directed by Samuel Le Bihan, this fiction required a real physical investment from the actor, as he revealed in Media Culture on Europe 1. In fact, he had to lose a lot of weight:
“I had to lose 10 kilograms in three weeks”
“When we started, I was at my starting weight and I had to lose at least 10 kilos, so it was a gram race. Everyone was eating, and me with my little trays. I was on 1,000 calories a day. 10 kilos in three weeks.” He continues:
“I was in a world apart”
“I was completely isolated because I was tired. No one talked to me because they left me in my bubble. I didn’t join them in the evening, because often teams get together, drink beer, eat something, but there I was completely isolated on the weekend, also in a separate world.
Suffice to say, the role required a real metamorphosis, and the challenge was quite successful. One thing is clear, this news, as disturbing as it is, should not leave you indifferent. Tune in tonight from 9:10 on France 2 to discover the TV movie.
