THE Corinthians I took a break Brazilian Championship after the 2-0 victory Palmeiras last Monday, 4th, at the Neo Química Arena, in Itaquera.
The team led by Ramón Díaz finished thirteenth in the standings, with 38 points. Corinthians is four points ahead of Atletico-PR, the team that opens the relegation zone. In Z-4 there are also Juventude, Cuiabá and Atlético-GO.
With the triumph against Palmeiras, Corinthians significantly reduced the risk of falling into Serie B of the Brazilian championship. According to the Department of Mathematics of the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), Parque São Jorge club’s chance of relegation is now 6.9%.
In the previous round, after the triumph over Cuiabá, at the Arena Pantanal, the risk of Corinthians falling was 25.2%.
The black and white team achieved three victories in the Brasileirão, against Athletico-PR, Cuiabá and Palmeiras. The triumph over rival Alviverde represented Corinthians’ first classic victory this 2024 season.
In the next round of the Brazilian championship, Corinthians will visit Vitória, on Saturday 9th, at Barradão. The Bahian team is one position ahead of the Sao Paulo team, also with 38 points.
