Being binge-watchers these days, this habit involves binge-watching serials by cramming as many episodes as possible in a row. However, other users of streaming platforms tend to watch more frequently, and this habit has its pros and cons.

Watching episodes one by one will definitely allow you to enjoy the series better and reduce the feeling of frustration associated with waiting too long to discover the rest. But this operation also carries a greater risk of not remembering a certain number of details, especially since streaming series generally do not offer plot summaries at the beginning of the episode.

But that situation is coming to an end, at least on Prime Video’s side. Amazon’s streaming service is preparing to experiment with an AI-driven system to offer subscribers who want previews before each episode of original series like The Boys, The Rings of Power or Reacher.

A new option exclusive to Prime Video

This new feature is called X-Ray Recaps (X-ray reviews, in French) will take the form of a short, quick-read text that summarizes the main facts of the previous episodes of the current season. This option will be exclusive to Prime Video for now, as well as allowing subscribers to get information about artists appearing on screen.

In an official press release, Adam Gray – Product Manager at Prime Video – outlined the feature: “With this new contextualization feature, Prime Video provides a summary of key facts and key points, so subscribers can quickly pick up where they left off and remember why they’re so interested in liking a series.

The first versions of this feature are now available in homes equipped with an Amazon Fire TV box in the United States. Other American families will have this option before the end of the year. Hoping for a more global international launch next year.
