The Sao Paulo club articulates the Football Corporation model in which it will have three partner companies
The proposal for the transformation of Portuguese He was presented to the fans in the Sociedade Anônima do Futebol (SAF) on Wednesday evening and what was shown during the match thrilled the Portuguese fans. With investments estimated at R$1 billion and a plan to rebuild the club, Lusa fans celebrated greatly during the presentation.
Portuguesa’s eventual SAF will be made up of three partner companies. Tauá Partners will take care of management, XP Investimentos will take care of the financial investment and Revee will take care of Canindé. The club’s goal is to make changes and prepare all the necessary documentation so that the vote can take place next week.
The group’s proposal will concern 80% of Portuguesa’s shares, but the value attributed to the club will go well beyond the assembly of the squad. Among the promises are the settlement of debts of more than R$450 million, a major renovation of Canindé, including a social club and the construction of a multipurpose arena in place of the stadium for R$500 million, as well as more of R$260 million for the next five years allocated to the team, with R$30 million already for next season.
Entrepreneurs André Berenguer and Alexandre Bourgeois explained at the fair that the money allocated for football foreseen for the next seasons will not only be used for the recruitment of athletes, but will include improvements in the coaching staff, investments in the base and also in women’s football.
With Lusa currently in Serie D of the Brazilian league, SAF expects a rapid rise on the national scene. The group said the aim is to gain onward entry for Portuguesa to be in Serie A in 2029, with the plan to also reach the semi-finals of the State Championship and the quarter-finals of the Copa do Brasil in the coming years.
Tauá, XP and Revee want the vote and possible approval to take place this month, so that the group can take control of the club as soon as possible, so that they can start putting together the team that will compete in the 2025 Paulistão.
The Portuguese fans go crazy
Videos of Portuguese fans present at the match spread on social media this Thursday. The videos show people very enthusiastic about the proposal and the projections made for the future of Portuguesa. Those present several times sang songs in support of the proposal made by the group, also saying phrases like “if it doesn’t happen the SAF will break its stick”, or “let’s all sing forward, to take our Lusa away from these people”.
With the current season coming to an end, living in anticipation of the arrival of the SAF, Portuguesa will compete in the Paulistão and Série D next year, also hoping to secure a place in the Copa do Brasil.
