Only 2 days in theaters: You have just one weekend to discover Blitz, Steve McQueen’s war movie!

A year after his documentary Occupied City, filmmaker Steve McQueen is back with the historical drama Blitz.

The feature film, starring Saoirse Ronan, Harris Dickinson, Benjamin Clementine and a young Elliot Heffernan, tells the epic tale of George, a 9-year-old boy living in London during World War II. His mother Rita sends him to the English countryside for refuge. But George, determined to return to his mother and grandfather Gerald (Paul Weller) in East London, embarks on an extremely dangerous adventure, while Rita, frantic with worry, sets out to find him.

Set during World War II, the music for this film was composed by the legendary Hans Zimmer (The Lion King, Pirates of the Caribbean, The Red Line, Gladiator, etc.). This is the composer’s third collaboration with Steve McQueen following 2013’s 12 Years a Slave and 2018’s Les Veuves.

Scheduled to stream on AppleTV+ on November 22nd Blitz It will be shown in theaters on November 9 and 10 under special visa conditions. From the Oscar-winning director of 12 Years a Slave, Shame and Little Axe, Discover the Mural on the big screen.

If AppleTV+ once decided to release its films in French cinemas, such as Ridley Swat’s Napoleon, the streaming giant has finally changed its strategy, directly releasing Wolves with Brad Pitt and George Clooney on AppleTV+. A French theatrical release requires the platform to wait 17 months before it can release the film in France. Thus, the Blitz will be exempted for 2 days as part of the Temporary Visa Ordinance. The latter makes it possible to program a work for a maximum of 500 screenings during two days of the same cinematographic week.
