It’s (almost) official: the Star Wars universe is getting three new movies! As reported by ExpirationLucasfilm has concluded a deal with Simon Kinberg – involved in the production of titles such as Deadpool and Wolverine AND Logan – write and co-produce the new trilogy together with Kathleen Kennedy, president of the company founded by George Lucas.
THE Expiration he also said that, according to insiders, Kinberg should not continue the Skywalker Saga, but rather start a completely new storyline. Furthermore, the producer would also be involved in Star Wars projects with James Mangold, Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, Taika Waititi and Donald Glover.

It’s worth mentioning that Simon Kinberg is not a newcomer to the Star Wars universe. As well as co-creating (along with Dave Filoni and Carrie Beck) and producing the animated series Star Wars Rebelshe also worked as a consultant for Star Wars: The Force Awakensreleased in 2015 under the direction of JJ Abrams.
Outside of the space storyline, Kinberg has also been involved in projects such as the mystery thriller Halloween nightthe television series Legionall the films in the saga Dead Pool and several volumes of the franchise X-Menincluding the spin-off The new mutants2020.
Currently, in addition to the new Star Wars trilogy, Simon is also working on titles such as the sci-fi remake The survivororiginally released in 1987 with Arnold Schwarzenegger in the lead role.
