In protest, the fans called for the team at half-time, when the score was still goalless against Grêmio.
Palmeiras’ 1-0 victory over Grêmio on Friday evening (9), in the 33rd round of the Brasileirão, led coach Abel Ferreira to arouse applause from the fans present at Allianz Parque.
“We support, f******,” the commander shouted at the Alviverde fans, amidst gestures towards the stands after the final whistle which secured three crucial points to keep Verdão alive in the contention for the national title.
In fact, at half-time, when the score was still 0-0, the Palmeiras fans protested, even booing.
“It’s not easy, no. Lots of free time for few commitments”, they shouted from the stands.
The fans’ dissatisfaction concerns the free time given to the team after eliminations in single-elimination tournaments, such as the Copa do Brasil and Libertadores. Even with more free time on the calendar, the team’s results and performances are far from satisfactory.
But even before the start of the match against Grêmio the atmosphere was no longer the best. After all, unlike other matches, the fans did not chant the names of the players and Abel Ferreira.
