A serious road accident was recorded on Sunday afternoon (9), around 12:07, on the BR-116, in the internal-capital direction, in Dois Irmãos, in the metropolitan region of Porto Alegre. According to the Federal Highway Police (PRF), a Fiat Punto went off the road and collided head-on with a tree at kilometer 220 of the motorway.
The impact of the crash caused the death of the driver of the vehicle at the scene. The front seat passenger was injured and was rescued by the SAMU team. She was taken for medical treatment to Novo Hamburgo General Hospital.
The causes of the accident are under investigation by the competent authorities. The PRF was on site to carry out the usual procedures and begin investigations into the facts.
