La Cage: Did Melvin Boomer undergo special training to do MMA fights? We have the answer

That’s it! After months of waiting, The Cage is finally available on Netflix. Frank Gastambide’s new series follows Taylor Keita (Melvin Boomer), a young fighter. A busy young man excels when he manages to knock out one of MMA’s stars.

If many do not believe for a second in his talent and describe his success as luck, this brave hero is confident in his chances. However, his path is littered with obstacles and he will have to persevere if he wants to overcome them.

Fortunately, he can count on a few stars of the discipline to train him. This five-episode piece of fiction should appeal not only to fans of this lesser-known sport, but also to the most curious who will find a powerful message in it.

Iconic MMA figures in the Cage cast

What will undoubtedly impress the audience is the excellent realism of the battles staged in the series. We shudder and hold our breath as Taylor steps into the cage facing MMA’s iconic figures.

But then, did Melvin Boomer follow special training to best follow the actual movements of the discipline? When questioned by us, the production responded: “In fact, there was training with professionals to get as close to reality as possible.”

“Melvin must have gained weight”

He then elaborates: “For the record, Melvin had to put on weight for the role and follow real intense MMA training very closely, it was a real transformation.” Revelations that do not surprise us, because the actor is completely believable in his role.

He also spoke on the set of the Quotidien show on October 31, making sure he was “Six months of preparation. It was every day, even weekends. You had to eat seven times a day and exercise three times a day.” Melvin Boomer at RMC Sport says he wants to honor the reality of MMA fighters: “It takes a tremendous amount of toughness. You don’t realize it until you practice.”

He concludes: “I wanted to gain real credibility, I don’t want to disappoint the people I represent, in this case the fighters. Therefore, I recommend not to miss the five episodes of the series cage Available November 8 on Netflix. You will not be disappointed!
