Disney+ is one of the most popular streaming services in the world today. Launched in 2019, it has hundreds of titles and millions of visits every month. However, there is one film that stands out.
And no, we’re not talking about any of the iconic productions of Star Wars. It is also not one of the works created by Marvel or Disney’s successful animations, such as Frozen.
According to a report released by Bloomberg, Moana it is the most listened to film on Disney+ of all time. In total, the film was viewed on the streaming platform for 80 billion minutes, the equivalent of seeing the film 748 million times.
The work also features in the Top 10 most-watched films of 2024, despite being released in 2017. Additionally, it has been one of the four most-watched films each year on any streaming service for the past five years.
One of the explanations for this audience phenomenon was the Covid-19 pandemic. With cinemas closed, streaming has gained strength and the animation has become a favorite among audiences since it was added to the Disney+ catalog, way back in 2019.
Remembering that the film was also a box office success. In total, Moana it grossed $687.2 million (nearly R$4 billion) during its run in cinemas worldwide.
