Fire hits striker’s home as he receives award in Spain

Part of the house was destroyed during the ceremony in which he received the award given to a Spanish goalscorer in La Liga

Striker Borja Mayoral went through two contradictory situations almost simultaneously in Spain. This is because while he was at the delivery ceremony of the Zarra Trophy, awarded to the Spanish top scorer in the last season, 23-24, his residence caught fire. The fire destroyed part of his house, located in the municipality of Pozuelo de Alarcón, on the outskirts of Madrid. The first floor of the family chalet was destroyed.

So, due to the scare, the athlete’s wife, Flávia Natalini, published the account of the losses. However, she stressed that her husband, herself and her relatives did not suffer physical harm, only fright.

“They often ask us what happened to us. We are still in shock, but we are all fine and that is the important thing. Thank you all,” said the Spanish player’s wife on her social media.

At the time of the accident, a representative of Madrid’s Emergency Community 112 informed the EFE agency that a two-storey chalet had been engulfed in flames. Among other things, it was empty when the tragedy occurred, last Monday afternoon (12). There is no information yet on the reasons that caused the fire.

Even before Mayoral and his wife spoke, ABC had already announced that the athlete was not home. In fact, he was present at the event where he received the award for the Spanish player with the most goals last season. By the way, he shared the award with Morata, who currently plays for Milan, but played for Atletico Madrid.

The firefighters intervened promptly and prevented the fire from spreading. In this way the professionals prevented other areas of the house, such as the ground floor, from suffering damage. Mayoral’s wife, Flavia Natalini, called them “heroes”.

Individual title for goalscorer in Spain

Borja Mayoral and Morata achieved the feat after scoring 15 goals in the last edition of the Spanish championship. The first for Getafe and the second for the Colchoneros.
