After directing Mel Gibson in Bloody Father and Gerard Butler in Mayday, French director Jean-Francois Richet directs Jason Statham in Mutiny.
Originally announced for a January 9, 2026 release date, the feature film has been pushed back to August 21, 2026 in US theaters. In France, SND, which distributes the feature film, did not specify an exact date, but indicated in its lineup that the release will still be in June.
Uprising follows Cole Reed (Statham), a man wrongly accused of murdering his boss. On the run, Reed will try to uncover an international conspiracy. Danish actor Roland Moller (The Citadel) will play the action man as the villain, while Annabelle Wallis (Peaky Blinders, The Mummy), Lee Charles, Jason Wong, Ben Cartwright, Adrian Lester and Arnas Fedaravicius also star.
Lindsay Michel and JP Davies’ feature film Mayday has been filmed between the UK and Malta.
French director in Hollywood
After creating the diptych Mesrin and The Emperor of Paris in France, Jean-Francois Richet made Assaut sur le central 13, Blood Father and Mayday in the United States. While promoting his latest action film, the French director told us that he had complete freedom while working in the US, contrary to popular belief:
Once we agree on the film and the script, the studios watch the rushes for a few days and if it suits them, they approve it. You shouldn’t go to Hollywood wanting to revolutionize everything.

Jason Statham makes action movies
in turn Jason Statham Coming soon is The Beekeeper 2, the sequel to David Ayer’s 2024 Prime Video. The second opus is directed by Indonesian director Timo Tiajanto (Nobody 2). Jeremy Irons and Pom Klementieff also appear in the cast.
The actress will next be seen in Rick Roman Voy’s Asylum. In this feature film (no need to specify a genre, you understand), he plays Mason, a man who lives in isolation on a Scottish island. After rescuing a young girl from the ocean during a terrible storm, she sets off a series of events that lead to a violent attack on her shelter…
She will share the bill with Naomi Eck and Bill Nye. A release date in France has not yet been announced.
