After 8 weeks of broadcast on the MAX platform, The Penguin series is available in its entirety. Adapted from Matt Reeves’ Batman, this sequel follows the rise of Oswald Cobb, played by Colin Farrell, in Gotham City’s criminal underworld.
After ups and downs, many betrayals and manipulations, and a game of cat and mouse with Carmine Falcone’s daughter Sofia Falcone (Christine Milioti), Penguin finally becomes the powerful gangster he always dreamed of in a brutal and tragic finale.
Hosted by Lauren LeFranc, this latest episode of the series teases what’s to come in Batman II, which stars Robert Pattinson and Zoe Kravitz and is slated for release in 2026. But until this second feature film, does the penguin’s adventure continue on the small screen?
Is the 2nd season of “Penguin” planned?
The Penguin series was originally planned to be a mini-series in the Batman universe to develop the narrative arc and origin story of the character played by Colin Farrell.
But Matt Reeves told him Entertainment Weekly that there have been discussions with HBO about a possible second season because there were “necessary request” From American cable executives regarding plans for the saga:
“We’re starting to talk about how we could do it, Lauren, Dylan, Colin and I. The idea of coming back to it means we have to maintain that level of quality.
We think there will be something new, but this is just the beginning. It’s exciting and very rewarding.”
As of now, HBO has not confirmed a season 2 of The Penguin, but given the series’ critical and public success across the Atlantic, it wouldn’t be surprising if the cable channel decided to renew the series. This wouldn’t be the first time an HBO miniseries has been turned into a long-running series like White Lotus.
Colin Farrell is ready to find the penguin in the series
Colin Farrell, on the other hand, said that he was going to reprise his role as the Penguin in Batman and a possible season 2 of the series.
“If there’s a good idea, and the writing is really good, and on paper it’s as strong or stronger than the first season, of course I’ll do it.”he explained The Hollywood Reporter.

However, the Irish actor suggested he was bored with his costume, prosthetics and character make-up. But he explained that these were humor and ironic complaints:
“I talk like that sometimes—’I’m looking forward to this job’—things like that. Now I’m nervous just sitting in that chair for hours.
But I’ve always loved the subject, and I’ve never lost the privilege I’ve had to portray a character who’s lived so long, first in the comics, and then in various iterations on television and film.”
In anticipation of a potential season 2, Colin Farrell’s Penguin will return in Batman II, which Matt Reeves has already teased: “The starting point for the second part of Batman because of what happened after the last movie and what happened during this gang war series.”he confirmed.
