Black Pantera release the video for “CANDEIA”

One of the biggest rock bands today, Black Pantera is gaining more and more space, participating in more festivals and making themselves heard by more and more people. In addition to the sound, a rock that embraces other styles, the lyrical messages speak of ancestry, belonging and are explicitly anti-racist, making this one of the flags raised by the band. So much so that in the Enem test, which took place on November 3 across Brazil, several students mentioned the band in a question on the topic and then talked about it through social media. They are touring for the album “Perpétuo” and in addition to individual shows, they have played at Rock in Rio, Knotfest, Living Color, Sepultura, Sleaford Mods and others throughout Brazil.

This November, Black Consciousness Month, they will release the video for “CANDEIA”, a track from the album “PERPÉTUO” (Deck). “CANDEIA” is a song sung, almost like a rap, a poem. Its refrain, “We are the candle that sets the big house on fire / The candle that sets the big house on fire” was the first part to be composed. “The lyrics were built around that, talking about black revolutions, talking about being this candle, carrying our ancestors, carrying them wherever we go” – commented bassist and singer Chaene da Gama.

The song is on the soundtrack of the short film “Cordão de Prata”, directed by Getúlio Ribeiro, not yet released, and its clip contains images of that film and also of the band playing around the candles in the studio. Directed by Carol Borges, of Quasque Filmes.
