Star Wars: After 3 years of waiting, the best series finally has a date for the second season and a noticeable change!

Rated 4.2 out of 5 by AlloCiné viewers, the best of the live-action Star Wars franchise has earned a special place among fans. More mature and political than other fiction available on Disney+, this Tony Gilroy-created series is a direct tie-in to the already beloved film.

A prequel to the feature film Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, the series Star Wars: Andor tells the story of how Cassian Andor (Diego Luna) joins the rebellion against the Galactic Empire.

Acclaimed by critics and much of the public, Andor created a certain consensus when it was released on Disney+ in 2022. Despite its success, fans had to wait until they heard about the sequel, which was already ordered before Season 1 aired.

“Star Wars: Andor” season 2 date!

Their patience will soon be rewarded as Disney has finally announced the release date for Andor season 2: April 22, 2025. CBR and the Disney+ app.

These new episodes should be a highlight next year, especially since they’ll be airing right after Star Wars Celebration, a no-brainer for fans and Disney and Lucasfilm.

Therefore, we can assume that many panels, interviews, excerpts and previews will take place during this convention. For mere mortals who won’t get a chance to head to Japan for Star Wars Celebration 2025, you’ll have to wait until April 22nd to find out about Andor season 2.

The platform also released trailers for all the series expected on Disney+ in 2025, with some images from Andor season 2, which will include 12 episodes as the inaugural season. This second season of Andor, which will also be the last, will span 4 years, with one year of Cassian’s life told every three episodes.

Long wait and change

So 3 years passed between two seasons of Andor, which had no luck with filming: the first season was affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, and the second season by the double strike of Hollywood writers and actors.

But Diego Luna promises that the wait will be worth it: “I think people who watch Rogue One after watching Season 2 will see a different movie. Everything will have a different meaning knowing what had to happen for K-2SO to be there. You’ll see Rogue One differently. Different Way, and not just K-2, but with many other characters.“.

In addition, according to The Official Star Wars Site And in a bit of information revealed during D23 in Brazil, the title of the series has changed. We’re going from ‘Star Wars: Andor’ to ‘Andor: A Star Wars Story’.

This change appears to be to tie in the Rogue One: A Star Wars Story movie, and could indicate that the end of the Andor series will likely tie into the beginning of the movie, since the end of the feature film was straight forward. It is related to the beginning of the movie Star Wars: A New Hope.

The first season of Andor is available on Disney+.
